Music in the Air, a program of the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, has announced two of Ohio’s most anticipated summer events - Festival Latino, presented by American Family Insurance and Jazz & Rib Fest. Both events will be held at Bicentennial Park, Genoa Park and along the downtown riverfront.
Festival Latino, the largest Hispanic/Latino event in Ohio, will celebrate its 12th year on June 15 and 16. The hours of the event are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day.
This celebration of Latin American culture features local and international music and dance performances; traditional and contemporary Latin America cuisine; a children's area with activities and crafts; a community marketplace featuring Latin American arts, crafts and merchandise; and an education/employment area and wellness area, with bilingual information from local service agencies and free medical screenings.
Jazz & Rib Fest will return to downtown Columbus July 20, 21 and 22. The event takes place Friday and Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Now in its 28th year, Jazz & Rib Fest showcases top national jazz acts. The event is also a feast for rib lovers everywhere. More than 25 ribbers from across the country will compete for the title of Critic’s Choice, Critic’s Hometown Choice, Big Whigs’ Pig Award and People’s Choice.
